Garden Club Plant Sale, 1307 Linn St., State College, Saturday, 8:00 am-noon

Want to get plants you probably won’t find at a big-box store? A State College garden club is holding a plant sale that features home-grown annuals, perennials, houseplants, and vegetables for your local food garden. There are lots of different plants to be found at this sale. Cash only, and it’s rain or shine.

1st Annual South Hills Our Town Altoona Community Block Party, Altoona, Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

South Hills School of Business & Technology is throwing a block party to benefit a great cause, Operation Our Town, which is focused on improving neighborhoods in Altoona. You can win an iPad, have your kids enjoy a variety of activities, check out mini-sessions on cloud tech and social media, enjoy some live music, purchase some cool stuff from vendors, and eat some good food.

Music from MiZ, Gamble Mill, Bellefonte, Saturday, 7:00 p.m.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist/native Pennsylvanian Mike Mizwinski, aka MiZ, will bring his soulful brand of rock/Americana to the Gamble Mill Saturday evening. MiZ has opened for a variety of artists from Lyle Lovett to The Wallflowers, so sounds like a great evening of music and local beer/food.

Nora Jane Struthers + the Party Line, Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks, Millheim, Sunday, 5:00 p.m.

Roots music is on the menu Sunday evening at Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks (along with of course local food and local brew). Nora Jane and her band are fresh from the roots music festival Merlefest, and are ready to show Central Pennsylvania why they are considered one of the hottest artists in roots music today.
