What is “Our Town?”

The “Our Town” programs on WPSU-TV are the only television programs that we air that are created by volunteers. We produce two different versions of the program, one that is open to all ages and one that is just for middle school students called “Our Town: The Kids’ Cut.” This year we worked with students in two communities, Somerset and St Marys. These middle school students completed their work in February and the programs aired in March.

“This I Believe” ends NPR run; WPSU’s show continues

NPR announced last week that it will cease broadcasting weekly installments of “This I Believe.” The popular public media project, which invites radio listeners to talk about the core beliefs that guide their lives, will continue as a web-based initiative.

If you love the show, here’s the good news. Here at WPSU, we will continue to broadcast our local version, which features the voices of public radio listeners from Central PA.  And we’ll continue to partner with the Centre Daily Times, which also publishes some of the essays.

WPSU Schedule Changes

Since the beginning of February, I have received a few notes, emails, and calls about our new weekday evening lineup.  “Weather World” (the full 15 min. version) is now back at 5:30 pm with a repear at 5:45 pm, followed at 6:00 pm by “BBC World News,” “The Nightly Business Report” at 6:30 pm, and “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer” at 7:00 pm
