New Voices on WPSU

A recent survey by NPR’s “Local News Initiative” shows that public radio listeners want to hear local stories on their local stations. Meanwhile , here at WPSU we’ve been charged with refocusing on the part of our mission that involves service to undergraduates. The result is a new collaboration between WPSU-FM and broadcast journalism students at Penn State University Park.

Our Town

The Our Town: Sheffield & the Valley show is being edited at WPSU

Dick Knupp is busy at work at WPSU editing the community volunteer’s videos and adding their comments to create the many different stories that will make up Our Town: Sheffield and the Valley. We are more than half way finished. There are photos of Dick working in the editing room in the photo gallery for Our Town: Sheffield. The show will be broadcast on Thursday, September 10th at 8pm on WPSU and wpsu.org. People will be able to see it on TV in Pennsylvania and on their computers anywhere in the world, that night. Let Sheffield fans know that they can see the show.

Avoiding Foreclosure Workshops

The web is filled with resources to help homeowners with questions about foreclosures and sometimes a phone call to the right organization provides the life jacket needed to prevent a foreclosure. For some, an in person resource is the preferable way to sort through the options and actions to take for your situation.

“Kick them while they are down” may be the motto for scammers who try to profit from homeowners’ misfortune when a foreclosure is starring them in the face.

What Makes a Book a Book?

This morning, on NPR’s Morning Edition, Lynn Neary and Linda Wertheimer talked about the growing use of so-called “electronic readers,” and the question of, “What makes a book a book?”
I got an electronic reader recently, as a gift, and I can vouch for all the pros and cons cited.
