Our Town Series Returns to Bradford

The “Our Town” series began in 1996 with Bradford, Pennsylvania.  After 55 productions in the WPSU series, we are returning to the area for a 2010 glimpse of this picturesque town, surrounded by the beauty of the Allegheny National Forest. Community members from the Bradford area are invited to attend a volunteer planning meeting to learn about the Our Town project. The meeting will be held Thursday, July 22 at 7 p.m. Details on location will be announced soon.  Anyone interested in the production is invited to attend.

At the meeting, local Bradford residents will discuss which landmarks, events, and local stories the program should tell about their town. WPSU will answer questions about the project during the meeting and ask each volunteer to select a subject or event to videotape. The volunteers will later videotape the Bradford footage with the help of WPSU-TV to create the documentary.
WPSU hopes to recruit 20 to 25 area residents with personal camcorders or still cameras. WPSU-TV provides one-hour of blank videotape to each volunteer in the format of his or her choice. There are no restrictions as to age or experience and no cost to participate, just a willingness to be part of the project.

The production date is set for Saturday, July 31 at the historic post office, now home to the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau at 80 E. Corydon Street. The program will be broadcast on Thursday, September 9 at 8 p.m. during the station’s on-air membership campaign.

As central Pennsylvania’s public television station serving a very large geographic area, the “Our Town” project was developed in an effort to involve the communities and their residents with WPSU-TV. The “Our Town” series is intended to treat viewers to the many personalities, perspectives, and possibilities that local towns have to offer.
“Our Town: Bradford 2010” will be the 56th production in the series. Previous programs have showcased many towns, including Altoona, Everett, Martinsburg, Northern Cambria, Jersey Shore, Bedford, Bellefonte, Bradford (1996), Johnstown, Huntingdon, Indiana, DuBois, St. Marys, Lewistown, Somerset, Warren, Windber, and Olean, NY.

we missed the commercial/ advertisement that went along with the show our town bradford.
and we’d like to really see ourselves on TV (:

Help,  I’m a Bradford High grad who’s lived in Michigan for 50 years. I was informed of the recent film you did on Bradford.  How do I get a copy of that film.?  I am in touch with 100 of our class members from ‘59 and will be able to tell them how they can access the film.
