Our Town

Our Town: Johnstown is underway!

Three WPSU staffers traveled to Johnstown Wednesday for the kickoff meeting of Our Town: Johnstown!

There’s something to be said about a roadtrip.  Whitney, Lindsey and I took a jaunt to Johnstown Wednesday for a meeting about Our Town.  About a dozen members of the community met with us to talk about the project.  I volunteered to drive on the way to Cambria County and I was excited to see the flurries falling once we crossed the Blair County line.. You can always count on Johnstown’s weather to be so much more severe than conditions in Centre County.  The meeting was very productive and I was happy to meet enthusiastic folks who I can tell are already percolating story ideas.  We’ll be back to town in a few weeks and we’ll chat about story assignments and story angles.

Johnstown

Biana,

Johnstown is looking forward to this project.  This city has some incredible businesses, people, and programs. My hope is that they are highlighted during this project.  I’m looking forward to our volunteer planning meeting.

Coopersdale

Look forward to helping out in anyway that I can.  I’m a resident of the Coopersdale Section of Johnstown and a two time past candidate for Johnstown City Council.  Former Mayor Herb Pfuhl became my mentor, friend and political adviser during the 2009 election.  My wife and her family are lifelong residents of Johnstown.  Again be glad to help in anyway we can.
