Classical Music

Classical Music Thursday, August 25 on WPSU-FM

Posted by Kristine A. on 08/24 at 01:15 PM

Highlights of Thursday’s classical music from 9:00am to 3:00pm on WPSU include Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds, hauntingly beautiful music by Peter Maxwell Davies, and Handel’s Harp Concerto.

Join us for Thursday’s classical music on WPSU-FM, and hear “Farewell to Stromness”, written in the 20th century by British composer Peter Maxwell Davies, beautifully played by pianist Christopher O’Reily. If you don’t know this hauntingly gorgeous piece of music, you owe it to yourself!  It comes up during the 9:00am hour Thursday.

On Thursday, you’ll also hear Handel’s Famous Harp Concerto in B-flat, a Beethoven piano sonata, “Ports of Call” by Jacques Ibert, and Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds - a piece so beautiful that it inspired Beethoven to later write his own work for those very same instruments.

Join us for that and much more, Thursday from 9:00am to 3:00pm on WPSU-FM!
