Radio: This I Believe - Thursday at 5:45pm and Sunday at 9pm – This week’s essayist is Karlita Chojolan, an exchange student from Guatemala studying at Juniata College in Huntingdon.  She believes in “The Climb.”

Radio: Marcellus Shale Call In – Thursday, 7pm – An hour-long live call-in about environmental and water issues related to Marcellus Shale drilling.

TV: A PLACE OUT OF TIME: THE BORDENTOWN SCHOOL – Monday, 10pm – The story of the Bordentown School in Bordentown, N.J., which was known as the “Tuskegee of the North” for providing blacks a quality education until it was shuttered in 1955 following the Brown v. Board of Education ruling. Included: remarks from alumni and historians and archival footage.

TV: SECRETS OF THE DEAD – Wednesday, 8pm – “The Airmen and the Headhunters” – The story of a WWII U.S. bomber crew that, after its plane was downed over Borneo by Japanese antiaircraft fire, was taken in by the infamous Dakar tribe, which was known for headhunting. The documentary features archival footage.

TV: PEDIGREE DOGS EXPOSED – Thursday, 9pm – This BBC investigation that was two years in the making, exposes the true extent of health and welfare problems in pedigree dogs. Scientists at Imperial College, London, recently found that pugs in the UK are so inbred that, although there are 10,000 of them, it is the equivalent of just 50 distinct individuals – making them more genetically compromised than the giant panda.

TV: NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT – Sunday, 8pm - From the U.S. Capitol’s West Lawn, Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna host the 2010 tribute to America’s military personnel, which features Colin Powell, Lionel Richie, Brad Paisley, Dennis Haysbert, classical singer Katherine Jenkins, Broadway’s Kelli O’Hara, gospel’s Yolanda Adams and the National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Jack Everly. This year’s concert honors Korean War veterans and the sacrifices of military widows whose spouses served in Iraq and Afghanistan. (Repeats at 9:30pm.)
