Sampling Saturdays: Pickles, Tait Farm, Centre Hall, Saturday 10:00 a.m.-noon
What to do with all those summer CSA, farmers market, and garden vegetables? Pickle them! Come to Tait Farm this Saturday for recipes for quick pickles, cooking demos, and sample some perfect pickles for your summer table.
Baby Steps to Healthy Eating Class, Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Are you a new parent and have any questions about when and how to start solids? Which nutrition is most important, and how to transition to finger and table foods? And perhaps most importantly, how to deal with a picky eater? The Mount Nittany Medical Center offers this class taught by a registered dietitian. Perhaps attend, and then hit a farmers market to get something for your baby!
“Rural Landscapes†Featuring the Farmland Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania, Centre Furnace Mansion, State College, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.
The Farmland Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania is a group of 16 artists dedicated to inspiring inspiration and preservation of our region’s beautiful and valuable farmland via visual arts. Come to the Centre Furnace Mansion to experience their beautiful art, and perhaps purchase a piece or two. An equal percentage of the art sales go to the Art Alliance, the host venue, and the Farmland Trust.
Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, Elk Creek Cafe and Aleworks, Millheim, Sunday, 5:00 p.m.
“If renowned American wordsmiths had a royal bloodline, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion would be poised to take the throne.” One of the area’s best places to get local food and beer will feature the husband-and-wife folk rock duo Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Iron. This Sunday they will play a show at Elk Creek featuring songs off their upcoming album “Wassaic Way”, coming out August 6.
