We are Scientists to Play Penn State: Jan 22nd

Posted by Charlee Redman on 01/19 at 08:55 PM

Brooklyn-based alternative rock group We Are Scientists will play a free show at the HUB on January 22, accompanied by local bands British Phil and The Exclusive Document. The event is hosted by SOMA, Students Organizing the Multiple Arts.

We Are Scientists came together a decade ago in California, while founding members Keith Murray and Chris Cain were in college. Ten years later, the band has released three albums, toured with groups like Kings of Leon and the Arctic Monkeys, and performed on Late Night with David Letterman. Murray and Cain even have a comedy television series on MTV UK called Steve Wants His Money. The Scientists’ sound is sleek and fast, with polished guitar riffs and dance-rock beats.

The eclectic band has come a long way since releasing their first, self-recorded album Safety, Fun, and Learning (In That Order) in 2002. With their major label releases With Love and Squalor (2005) and Brain Thrust Mastery (2008) and a unique blend of geeky humor, they’ve developed a widespread following. It will definitely be an interesting show.

Where: HUB, Alumni Hall
When: January 22, doors open at 7pm
Tickets: FREE, with student ID
