Take Action Tour 2011: Pittsburgh, May 26th

Posted by Brian McFarland on 05/25 at 10:05 AM

The Take Action Tour 2011, celebrating its 10th anniversary, will stop at the Altar Bar in Pittsburgh on Thursday, May 26th before concluding the tour in New York City. Bayside and Silverstein will headline the tour that also includes Polar Bear Club, The Swellers, and Texas In July. The tour is run by Hopeless Records through it’s non-profit organization, Sub City.

The goal of the Take Action Tour and Hopeless Records is to give bands and their fans the opportunity to contribute to a cause of their choice, while enjoying music they can all relate to. Sub City has raised 1.8 million dollars for over 50 non-profit organizations over the past ten years. The charity of choice this year is Sex, Etc. whose mission is to raise teen awareness on sex and resources across the country. Past charities include ReachOut.com and Driving For Donors.

Bayside is an American rock band from Queens, formed in the winter of 2000. Killing Time, their most recent album, was released in February. They are currently signed to Victory Records and Wind Up Records. The Canadian post-hardcore band Silverstein from Burlington, Ontario formed in 2000. Silverstein is currently signed on Hopeless Records and released their new album, Rescue,  this past April.

Texas In July is a small town metal-hardcore band from Ephrata, Pa. Currently signed to CI Records and Equal Vision Records, they released their new album, One Reality,  this past April—four years after creating the band. Polar Bear Club formed in 2005, and the members are originally from Rochester and Syracuse, NY. They released their most current and second full length album, Chasing Hamburg, in May 2009 while under contract with Bridge Nine Records. The Swellers, from Fenton, Mi, are an American punk band formed in 2002. Their new album, Good For Me, will be released on June 14th of this year under Fueled By Ramen Records.

Tickets for this Thursday’s show may be purchased on ticketmaster.com.
