Our Town: Mount Union Coming Soon to WPSU

Community members from the Mount Union area are invited to attend a volunteer planning meeting to learn about the Our Town project. The meeting will be held at the Assembly of God Church on Thursday, June 17 at 7 p.m. The church is located at 611 North Jefferson Street in Mount Union. Anyone interested in the production is invited to attend.

At the meeting, local Mount Union residents will discuss which landmarks, events, and local stories the program should tell about their town. WPSU will answer questions about the project during the meeting and ask each volunteer to select a subject or event to videotape. The volunteers will later videotape the Mount Union footage with the help of WPSU-TV to create the documentary.

WPSU hopes to recruit 20 to 25 area residents with personal camcorders or still cameras. WPSU-TV provides one-hour of blank videotape to each volunteer in the format of his or her choice. There are no restrictions as to age or experience and no cost to participate, just a willingness to be part of the project.

The production date is set for Saturday, June 26. The program will be broadcast in August during the station’s on-air membership campaign.

As central Pennsylvania’s public television station serving a very large geographic area, the “Our Town” project was developed in an effort to involve the communities and their residents with WPSU-TV. The “Our Town” series is intended to treat viewers to the many personalities, perspectives, and possibilities that local towns have to offer.

“Our Town: Mount Union” will be the 55th production in the series. Previous programs have showcased many towns, including Altoona, Everett, Martinsburg, Northern Cambria, Jersey Shore, Bedford, Bellefonte, Bradford, Johnstown, Huntingdon, Indiana, DuBois, St. Marys, Lewistown, Somerset, Warren, Windber, and Olean, NY.

Is the Mount Union, PA documentary still available for viewing on the internet?

I just came across this blog and don’t see a reference as to what year this was done.

My father was born and raised in Mt. Union.

Please advise any info you have.

Unfortunately, we only stream the program when it airs on broadcast television. The program will air on the station again and then will stream live at wpsu.org at that time. Check back for air dates and times. Thanks!

You say ( We only stream the program when it airs on broadcast television ) well last night the 12th at o8:00pm it was advertised for that date an time would be on your web site, WELL WHAT HAPPENED i went to your web site at the time an date an NO program I say NO fish hatchery program was to be seen.  I was very disappointed.  I was hoping to see my family’s presentation. 

When you advertise some thing for your web site for viewing I would think it would be seen.
