“Ooh La La,” Britney’s Got a New Song

Posted by Kayla Tooma on 07/09 at 01:54 PM

It’s Britney, guys. And two years after the release of her most recent studio album, Femme Fatale, the pop princess has recently been collaborating with will.i.am, has had rumors fly about her next studio album to be released this fall, and just released a new song, “Ooh La La,” that will be featured in The Smurfs 2 movie soundtrack!

The song is sweet, fun, youthful, and refreshing. Coming right from Britney’s Femme Fatale album which featured harder pop sounds and beats, lyrics regarding being in love with a criminal and sneaking around, “Ooh La La” is the complete opposite of her last album. It does feature some great beats, but it is far more innocent and playful. Even her vocals seem a little higher than usual which is reminiscent of her earlier work. Above all though, the song is crazy catchy. After the first listen, that was it—the song was stuck in my head for the rest of the day. It has an interesting composition that transitions between the sweet, bubblegum pop to a beat driven, choppy vocalized bridge. The song is a great teaser to keep people on their toes for her new album. I hope it features more songs like this that resemble her earlier work of playful, girly, sweet pop.

As of right now, there is just a lyric video (below). But the music video, which will be released sometime in early July, is rumored to feature her two sons Sean Preston and Jayden James! So definitely keep your eyes out for the new video. Who knows, maybe they’ll Smurf-ify Britney!
