Movin’ On 2012’s Final Act: Michael Franti and Spearhead

The Movin’ On 2012 CORE Committee announced earlier today that it has finalized contracts with the fifth and final act for its music festival, signing Michael Franti and the Spearhead. Michael Franti and Spearhead is an alternative hip-hop group that mixes a variety of genres including funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock with lyrics promoting peace and social justice.

The lineup for major acts at Movin On 2012 is now the following:

Ludacris

Young The Giant (presented by SPA)

The David Mayfield Parade

Michael Franti and Spearhead

The Avett Brothers

The complete lineup will be determined at the conclusion of the Battle of the Bands competition for student acts, scheduled for Saturday, March 31st at 9:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the HUB.

This year’s Movin’ On music festival will be held on Friday, April 27th from 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm at IM Field West by Beaver Stadium. The event is free admission for both Penn State students and the general public. More information regarding acts and activities will be released as the event approaches. The final itinerary for the day’s performances and events will be available at www.movinon.org.
