Into It. Over It. Rocked It

Last Tuesday Penn State’s Asylum club put on another house show at La Casa Blanca, 221 E. Park Ave.

Supported by local acts, the show kicked off around 9pm with Sean Kapy and Edward Longo. Both artists praised the crowd with heartfelt “thank yous.”

After the State College musicians performed, Last Full Measure, another Pennsylvania band, played. Last Full Measure is Brendan Walsleben’s project and is currently touring and gathering fans. While Walsleben is fairly new to the music scene, his talent and vocal range made for an impressive musical package. He is working on a future full-length that should be available sometime next year.

La Casa Blanca, no stranger to diverse bands, was warmed up and ready for the final show of the night: Into It. Over It. This one-person band is more of a pop-punk act. Playing with as much soul as exuberantly possible, Evan Thomas Weiss—the face behind Into It. Over It.—serenaded those in attendance.

Although most of the crowd came for Weiss, they were still unfamiliar with most of his songs. Faint singing along was heard throughout the room and got louder as the chorus broke down. Weiss played his heart out, which seemed uncharacteristic for such an unknown name, but it proved he was passionate about his music. He spoke of previous shows, once again thanking everyone before he moved into his last few songs.

Weiss continued to play some of his recently released material as well as his older tracks. Into It. Over It. finished up the night with one of its most popular songs: “Anchor.” It was the perfect ending to a perfect set that left the room in a deafening applause.

Into It. Over It. has just released a split 12” vinyl with Koji, another artist on No Sleep Records.

In a surprise performance, Koji appeared at the show, tagging along with Weiss. After the show dispersed, Koji gave an intimate performance on the front porch of La Casa Blanca. Those that were left at the house received a rare opportunity to see this budding musician. Koji talked about working with Weiss on the split vinyl and mentioned his upcoming tour with him.

Overall, the bands that performed gave another great house show, solidifying State College as a legitimate music town.
