Help Us Tell the Grange Fair Story!

WPSU & the Committee for the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair are producing a special episode of the popular Our Town series, Our Town: The Grange Fair. Production for this program will take place throughout the fair, August 26 – September 2, 2010, and we want you to be a part of the show!

We are looking for volunteer storytellers, from the ranks of those who live, work at, and visit the fair every year; to show and tell what it is that makes the fair such a special event and important tradition. This is your opportunity to share an aspect of the fair that is important to you.

So what’s the first thing needed for your participation in this project… a story idea! Would you like to tell us about the quilt exhibits or livestock competitions? How about a tour of the foods available at the fair?  Or take a look at the history? Any of these ideas, or other ideas unique to your fair experience, could be a story for this show.

We’ll be holding a meeting to select and commit to story ideas on Saturday, August 21 at the WPSU studios in State College.  We’ll then send our storytellers out to the fair to capture video and photos to support each story.  Then, we’ll meet you at the fair for a brief interview so you can tell us all about the visuals you collected.
