Ciara and Nicki Minaj collaborate to produce “I’m Out”

Posted by Brandon Vesely on 07/09 at 01:37 PM

R&B singer Ciara joins forces with hip-hop icon Nicki Minaj in the video for her newest single, “I’m Out.”  Ciara, a native of Austin, Texas, unveiled the video as a preview of her upcoming self-titled album, which will be available on iTunes on July, 9.

Musically, the video combines Ciara’s bold, provocative vocals with Minaj’s in-your-face rapping, to create an upbeat, club-ready track from the same vein as Ciara’s hit singles “Goodies” and “Ride.”  The lyrics encourage listeners to forget their problems, particularly those that relate to romantic situations, and enjoy the moment at hand.  These musical elements and lyrical themes constitute the perfect recipe for a party-oriented dance track.

The video is fresh and unforgetable. It begins with both artists in completely white outfits that complement the song’s theme of starting fresh.  Similarly, the video includes both artist’s signature choreography, in addition to a variety of scene-changes that place Ciara at a dinner party, a dance club, and underneath a fountain of water.  The unique video reflects the adventurous carefree aura of the song itself, and bolsters the memorability of the new track.

Ciara’s upcoming album includes “I’m Out” and “Body Party,” two hit singles that she performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 2.

Minaj has not released any specific information about her third album release, but has hinted that she will return to her hip-hop roots as she begins work on the follow-up to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which was released in November of 2012.
