Bradford Interview Day Success!

This past Friday evening, the WPSU production team headed to Bradford to prep for Saturday’s full day of interviews with each contributing storyteller. Kevin Conaway, Whitney Chirdon, Dick Knupp and Jen Bortz made the trek to the Allegheny National Forest. Our first stop—-a great meal at the Option House, followed by an overnight stay at the Pitt Bradford campus.
Saturday began at 7:00 AM with breakfast at the John W. European Pastry Shop. After a hearty breakfast to get us ready for the 28 interviews we’d be shooting throughout the day, we made our way to the Old Post Office, where Linda Devlin of the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau hosted the crew.
Our interview day kicked off with a cheerful Pat Frantz Cercone and a profile of University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 8:40 AM. Throughout the day we heard stories about area businesses, local recreation, the McKean County SPCA, and the Bradford Library. One common theme throughout almost every story—-the way the community rallies together to make Bradford the great town it is today.
As we departed Bradford around 8:30 PM, we were tired but excited as we recounted the fabulous stories we had captured throughout the day. Next up…it’s several weeks in the edit room to put it all together.

I am a Bradford, PA native. Is there anyway I can view this program about Bradford online after the actual presentation.

I loved growning up in Bradford. However, industry has long since abandoned the town. When I lived there in the early 1960’s there was: Dresers, Owens-Corning, Continental Can Co., Coca Cola Bottling, and more. They all left. Without jobs you have no town.

I was not able to see the live broadcast of this show. Bradford native - my family once owned the Hotel Holley & my great-uncle had the last working lease in town (behind McDonalds). I still have family in Bradford & McKean county.
While I am a longtime fan & viewer of WPSU, I wonder at the $75 for a DVD. I suspect that this is beyond the budget of many of your viewers. It certainly is for mine - and I am a pledging supporter of other public broadcasting stations. You might want to consider adding a one-time online videostream for a smaller pledge - perhaps $35 to $50.
