Black Coffee to Play Saturday at Café 210 West

Posted by Stephen Smith on 02/04 at 03:50 PM

If you’re in the mood for a bit of jazz-inspired soul this weekend, Café 210 West is where you want to be. Black Coffee, with their fusion of blues, rock, jazz, and soul, will start their show at 7:00pm on Saturday. Fronted by the powerful vocals of Caitlin Cuneo, this quintet carries on the sound of traditional blues into the present day. Their emotional lyrics and passionate performances present a fresh alternative to the preeminent cover bands of State College.

The band recently recorded an E.P. consisting of three original tracks: “Working Hard,” “Blue,” and “Bottom of the Barrel.” It also includes a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Fine and Mellow.” Music reviewer Jim Allford of PAMusicScene.com says of Black Coffee, “I would highly recommend seeing this band when you get into the State College area and getting a copy of their E.P. This band is definitely to be reckoned with in the blues jazz world in the near future.”

Come on out to Café 210 West tomorrow night and judge for yourself! Also on tap for Saturday evening is the rock/reggae trio Macadocious at 9:30, followed by 5 Cherry Lewis at 11:00.
