Posted by Jamie Oberdick on 09/02, 2016 at 11:47 AM
Happy Labor Day weekend! This edition of Local Food Notes is wine event heavy, but we also highlight Bee Tree Berry Farm and the annual Crickfest. Keep reading to learn more.
- Tonight, check out some live music from Biscuit Jam and great wine at Happy Valley Vineyard & Winery’s Friday Night Music series. The event features a weekly wine special and runs from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
- It’s September now, so it may surprise you that it’s still berry season. Bee Tree Berry Farm has u-pick and fresh picked red raspberries available daily. They also are offering seasonal veggies and herbs for sale. They will also have strawberries and blackberries at their North Atherton Farmers Market stand.
- Tonight, Mount Nittany Winery hosts its annual End of Summer Gala from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with appetizers, wines, and music from Jay Vonada’s Jazz Quartet. Reservations required and can be made by calling 814-466-6373.
- The Penns Valley Conservation Association (PVCA) will hold its 14th Annual Crickfest celebration from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at Coburn’s park to honor the Penns Creek Watershed. Find free outdoor activities for all ages, with music, workshops, educational activities, silent auction, local foods, and children’s activities.
- Yet another local wine event is the Wine Down Weekend in Downtown Huntingdon on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You will get to experience wine tastings from PA wineries, great food, and live music. Event occurs rain or shine. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the event. Proceeds benefit Huntingdon Landmarks Inc and Huntingodn Boomtown.
