Holiday events with a local food twist
Posted by Jamie Oberdick on 12/11, 2014 at 11:05 AM
There are several holiday events coming up that have a local food angle to them. If you want to celebrate the holiday and support local food vendors, here are several opportunities to do so:
Tait Farm Foods is holding Sample and Shop Evenings the next two Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tonight, you can enjoy samples of delicious desserts and perhaps take a few home for dinner. Next Thursday, they will be offering samples of breakfast and brunch items that may inspire you to purchase them for a nice warming meal on a cold December morning.
Bellefonte’s Victorian Christmas will be held Dec. 12-14 throughout town. Along with a variety of holiday activities like live music, Victorian high tea, carriage rides, and more, Scott’s Roasting will be serving their remarkable roast pork sandwiches made from locally-raised hogs.
If you love local wine, then the Mount Nittany Winery has an excellent event just for you. At their Mulled Wine Open House, you can see the winery in its seasonal finery and get in the holiday mood with Christmas music, hot mulled wines and holiday sweets. They will also offer wine baskets that you can customize and many locally-made food and gift items that will be appreciated by everyone on your holiday list.
