Nearly seventeen million Americans are living with Type II diabetes, and many don’t even know they have it. Are you one of them? Are you at risk of developing the disease? Early diagnosis is critical in the successful treatment and prevention of serious, sometimes life-threatening complications. On the next show we’ll speak with Susan Trainor, certified registered nurse practitioner and President of People Centre’D on Diabetes; Diana Berlyand, registered dietician and certified diabetes educator; and Lydia Abdullah, board member of People Centre’D on Diabetes.

Susan Trainor, CRNP, CDE
Susan Trainor is a certified registered nurse practitioner with Mount Nittany Physician Group and president of People Centre’D on Diabetes, a community organization formed to help improve the lives of those currently living with diabetes and those at risk of developing the disease.
Diana Berlyand, RD, LDN, CDE
Diana Berlyand is a clinical dietician and certified diabetes educator in the Endocrinology Department of Mount Nittany Physician Group. Diana Berlyand works with patients as part of the team approach to diabetes care, providing real tools to make significant lifestyle changes to help ensure successful outcomes.
Lydia Abdullah
Lydia Abdullah has been a member of the Penn State community for over 36 years and is a board member of People Centre’D on Diabetes. She is also a patient living with Type II Diabetes and has been very successful in advocating for diabetes awareness and screenings.

Patty Satalia
During 30 years in broadcasting, Patty Satalia has worked as a news anchor, talk-show host, public affairs manager, and producer.
She has conducted more than 5,500 interviews for WPSU and has earned Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards for public affairs and entertainment programming.
