Posted by Jamie Oberdick on 09/15, 2016 at 04:41 PM
Local Food Notes for Sept. 16 features Mt. Nittany Vineyard and Winery’s September photo contest, apple cider’s back, and fast bluegrass at Elk Creek Cafe.
- Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery is holding their sixth annual Harvest Photo Contest during the month of September. Shoot photos during regular winter hours, such as shots of the vineyard, winery, harvest operation, wine tasting, etc. and send them to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to enter. The first place winner receives a $50 gift certificate, and color, black and white, landscape, and portraits photos are welcome.
- Cider fans, it’s time to rejoice. The North Atherton Farmers Market has the first apple cider of the fall season, plus fresh apples by the bushel, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Stop by the Home Depot parking lot in State College on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- If local beer, great food made with ingredients from nearby farms, and bluegrass-ish music played at punk rock speed is your idea of a good time, then Sunday’s your day. The Whiskey Shivers will bring their high-energy backwoods sounds to Elk Creek Cafe and Aleworks Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.
