Local Food Notes for Oct. 30
Posted by Jamie Oberdick on 10/30, 2015 at 11:09 AM
This week we offer a way to eat well and help Friends & Farmers, celebrate 13 years of zany Austrian food experiences at Herwig’s, and how you gardeners can save big at Tait Farm.
- Earlier this week we talked about how Friends & Farmers is doing great things but still needs your help. Here’s a delicious way to do so; go to dinner at Harrison’s Wine Grill. Mention Friends & Farmers to your server and they will give 20 percent of your check to Friends & Farmers. To further tempt you, check out their autumn menu.
- Herwig’s is celebrating 13 years of serving incredible Austrian food in a way that can alternately make you laugh or fear a bit for your safety (don’t worry, their ridiculous threats are all part of the show). To celebrate, on Saturday Nov. 7 they will slowly roasted a pig from Hog’s Galore and serve it up as part of a special meal. Early birds get an Oktoberfest beer from Otto’s. Call to get your tickets today at (814) 272-0738.
- Attention gardeners who are as cheap thrifty as I am: Tait Farm is holding their end of season sale. It features 50 percent off perennials, select garden pots, and statuary. Go find your perfect deal tomorrow!
