During the Depression, the Farm Security Administration hired photographers to document life in America. The result was a massive photographic record known as the FSA-OWI collection in which Pennsylvania's industrial, agricultural and social history is well represented. Ronald Filippelli is Penn State professor of Labor Studies and Industrial Relations and co-author of Times of Sorrow & Hope: Documenting Everyday Life in Pennsylvania During the Depression and World War II published by Penn State Press.
