Take Note Live: Stand Up to Bullies

Take Note Live: Stand Up to Bullies

According to the Colorado Anti-Bullying Project, 750,000 high school students in the U.S. miss school each month because they are afraid of bullies. Victims not only report fear of going to school, but also physical symptoms of illness and a diminished ability to learn in school. Bullies themselves are at increased risk for a host of long-term, negative outcomes. Early intervention in the home, school, and community are the best hope of diverting children from this path. Jeffrey Parker is associate prof. of psychology at Penn State, and George Ziolkowski is dir. of pupil personnel services for the East Penn School District.
