Pennsylvania Inside Out: Philly's Water System, Bankruptcy
Pennsylvania Inside Out: Philly's Water System, Bankruptcy
In the late 1700s, a plague of yellow fever hit Philadelphia, damaging its reputation and creating poor living conditions for its inhabitants. In an effort to rebuild the city's status, officials built the Fairmount Water Treatment Plant. Today, it's a museum that educates people about water issues, living downstream, and the environment. Bankruptcy today is little more than a few months in purgatory, rather than the seven-year hell-and lifelong disgrace-it once was. But that may be changing. Host Patty Satalia talks with Charlie Bierbach, a bankruptcy attorney and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee, about recent changes in U.S. bankruptcy law.
