Take Note: Obesity
Take Note: Obesity
William Dietz, head of the Centers for Disease Control's Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity, says childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions. The number of obese children has doubled since 1980. The average teen gets more than 10% of daily calories from soda. What's more, "pre-prepared or packaged food" now accounts for more than 40% of family food budgets. What's being done to address the nation's expanding weight problem? Dietz is calling for a comprehensive nutrition and physical activity program to prevent and treat obesity
