Founded in 1787, Ebensburg is located “up the mountain,” as local folks like to say. At the turn of the 20th century, Ebensburg was a summer resort town for people from cities like Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. who were drawn to its cool climate. Today, Ebensburg still offers peaceful, small-town living from hiking and fishing at the local lake, which according to legend is home to a 40 lb catfish, to a friendly downtown and quiet, well-kept neighborhoods.
