Local Food Notes for Dec. 1
Posted by Jamie Oberdick on 12/01, 2017 at 09:19 AM
Lots of events to give you the holiday cheer in this week’s Local Food Notes.
- Lemont will be holding its annual German Christmas Market this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature hot dogs and bratwurst from Hogs Galore, mulled wine and cider, and homemade items from town residents. The local band Group Therapy will provide the mood music from 6 to 8 on Friday.
- First Fridays are an underrated State College event series, where one can find special deals from local merchants and restaurants, live music, and more on the first Friday evening of every month. December’s has a holiday theme, of course, and one of the participating vendor is local food purveyor Webster’s Bookstore Cafe.
- Bring a canned food item or a monetary donation for the State College Food Bank to the Flutopia Falala, an annual drop-in, come-as-you-are Flutopia Initiative Concert. The event will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Robert M. Sides on 1801 N. Atherton Street. Cathy Herrera (flute) and Anne Sullivan (harp) offering Celtic Christmas selections, State High Chamber Singers, and Flutopia Jazz.
- On Sunday, support the Centre County United Way via the Taste of the Town, an evening of culinary delight featuring multiple local purveyors of great food and drink, wine and spirit tastings, live music, live and silents auctions, and more. Tickets are $75, and you can go here to purchase.
