Addition to Cinematography
February 15, 2009 by Dave
I want to add one thing from my photojournalism background that may help with building a scene. It is the understanding of the key moment that you want to capture and working out from that moment to develop the entire scene. A still photographer will anticipate what will happen and position themselves to nail a the moment that defines the situation. Take this photo from this past Veterans Day ceremony on campus.
It was the defining moment of the ceremony to me. Now, with that image in mind, try to build out from that picture (in motion) to complete the scene. This can be very convienent when you don’t know where to start. Break it down to still images and fill it in with motion.
Hope this helps some of you.

STUDENT BLOGS
The course utilized a blog both to continue the discussion outside the classroom, and to provide training for the students in blogging, video compression, and video sharing.
Students used the blog to post reflections and ideas, to share and comment on the video assignments, and to respond to each other's posts.
